Singer, violinist & songwriter, Mitch Gauzas presents his new album, Good Man Bad Man. Produced in collaboration with respected producer Dave Draves (Kathleen Edwards, Jim Bryson, Howe Gelb & more). This album bridges rock, folk, pop & blues. It features a strong mix of 10 tracks driven by acoustic guitar, up beat percussion, great melodies, electric guitar, string & brass orchestration.
Born in London, Ontario Mitch began studying classical violin at the age of five. During his formative years he enjoyed performing with numerous chamber groups & orchestras. In the summer of 1991 the Gauzas family moved to Ottawa, Ontario where Mitch auditioned successfully for the Ottawa Junior Youth Orchestra. By grade nine, he had worked his way to become Concert Master of the OJYO and was successfully accepted into Ottawa’s High School for the arts, Canterbury. In the tenth grade Mitch was happy to be admitted to Ottawa’s Youth Orchestra ultimately reaching third chair. In his graduating year of Canterbury High School, Gauzas was fortunate to have been awared the position of string ensemble & school orchestra Concert Master.
During this time in high school, his interest grew to other genres of music beyond classical at which point he began performing with rock bands, singing as a lead vocalist, playing electric violin & venturing into the creative world of writing songs. Always having an interest in expanding beyond classical work Gauzas continued to perform & participate in creating original rock music with a band that he co-founded in Montreal. As the lead singer and violinist for the band it was common for him to travel from Ottawa to Montreal often twice a week to rehearse, play shows & record.
Mitch’s passion for music continued as a solo and freelance artist during his university years; recording several demos & performing with great artists in the Ottawa scene. His original song ‘Brings Me Down’ was an industry feature for a Juno Awards Compilation disc of Ottawa talent in 2003.
Creating & performing is an integral part of Mitch’s life, evidenced in his role in a community production of Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as Potiphar & Brother Dan in 2010 all the while recording Good Man Bad Man.
