The emotion in Desiree's Dorion's newest song "Turn To Me" is palpable. It's a touching tribute to her 3 week old baby girl Grace. "We wrote the song with Gracie lying there in the room staring up at us" says Dorion. "I recorded the vocal holding Gracie and if you solo the track you can hear her softly crying at times in the background".
You might expect for a singer to take some time off after giving birth…but not Dorion. In her typical renaissance woman style, she was right back at it, writing and recording songs with Producer Arun Chaturvedi (Little Hawk, James Struthers, Keeping Up With The Kardashians) for her next release only weeks after giving birth. "I'm actually really excited" comments Dorion "Maternity leave from my day job as a lawyer will allow me the time I need to focus on writing and recording my new record. And as a new mother, I'm feeling as inspired, refreshed and renewed as ever.
The album will serve as the follow up to her critically acclaimed record "Soul Back Jack" which garnered her multiple awards and nominations including Best Country Album and Best Female Artist at the 2010 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, Best Country Artist at the 2011 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards, Best Country Album at the 2011 North American Indigenous Image Award, and Best Country Album at the 2011 Indian Summer Music Awards.
Honesty, emotion, and work ethic are some of the defining attributes of Dorion.
These coupled with her gift for songwriting, and her versatile voice (at times reminiscent of greats like Dolly Parton) are what sets this young country crooner apart.
