Scarlet Reign is a female-fronted, melodic driven hard rock band that exploded onto Vancouver’s music scene early in 2009. Scarlet recorded their first EP, Through Our Eyes, at Factory Studios and Greenhouse Studios, produced by award-winning Evan Morgan Productions. It was released to a capacity crowd at Vancouver’s The Bourbon in May 2010.
The fingerprints on each song that Scarlet writes are signatures of the band as a whole. Front woman and lyricist Shay Ward reveals prairie roots and the band’s distain for pretension in Plastic. Never the Same is an honest revelation of war’s impact, seen through Iranian drummer Arash Kalanpour’s eyes as well as Shay’s own understanding gleaned while performing in the Middle East. Faceless is the story of witnessing a drug-addicted woman’s tragic death by stumbling into traffic on Vancouver’s East Side. Arash and fellow founding member, Ryan Wilson, influenced Falling, a hard-driving statement of spiritual integrity. Bassist James Bos joined Scarlet after six years with his former band. Newest member Dan Fast lends a metal influence through crushing guitar riffs.
Ready to grow and take risks both personally (Let Go) and musically (Fear), Scarlet Reign’s music reveals the band’s positive outlook and strong work ethic. Scarlet Reign continues to write unique material and is planning a Canadian tour for the fall of 2010.
