Biography

Haveya is a project created by Geoffrey Tan. Geoff has been killing it in the music scene for over 20 years playing in bands such as the Golers, Drexells Eye, Unsound and Side 67. Moving to Vancouver from Edmonton in 97 with long time friend and band mate Kerry Cyr (Sidesixtysevens guitarist) was a decision based on a future in playing music. Living in the van they moved to Vancouver in, for over a month, was just a small display of their dedication to playing music. Parking by the sea every night and making jokes about their ocean front place in the morning, before going off to find a gas station to relieve themselves, would eventually come to an end. Geoff and Kerry would spend their free time jamming out acoustic guitars together, singing and writing songs. They began playing parties for fun, which soon became requested at almost every social function they attended. It would usually breakout into a full party sing along. Then Geoff and Kerry were asked to play a show at the Cannabis Cafe, downtown Vancouver, for a Cannabis Cup private party. The show was a blast and the crowed loved it and at that point Geoff and Kerry saw the potential in their music. After playing numerous other shows around Vancouver Geoff and Kerry were not satisfied with just playing acoustically so they under went the task of rearranging the songs for a full band to play them electrically. After trying out numerous musicians they finally found Benjie Nesdoly (Cortes the Killer, The Red Scare and Mongoose) who added some very tasty drum licks to the catchy Haveya sound, along with Adam Folly (Castle Gray Skull) on bass to complete the sound along with the band. Now after recording for almost a year Haveya's long awaited first release will soon be available for public consumption with 12 tracks of incredible catchy rock, great sing along chorus's mixed with explosive rock outs and featuring a track with guest vocalist Stephanie Reid and her indy/blues/experimental sound. Haveya's down tuned, catchy sound can be related to these bands: The Trews, Theory of a Dead Man, Hinder, Queens of the Stone Age, Sam Roberts, 3 Days Grace and Finger 11 to name a few. Haveya is currently booking and playing shows and are in the middle of planning a west coast tour. They have just applied for a video fact grant with the help of Kevin Angel from Rugged Media and are preparing bio packages to be sent off to booking agencies and label reps. After extensive phone calls and networking from every angle possible, and after playing music for over 2 decades Haveya has, and knows, what it takes to become a successful band and they'll have a blast every step of the way. www.myspace.com/haveya
